Well, I'm typing this and will hit enter when I finish to see if I actually got in to the page!
It's been a few years. The date is March 17, 2021.
Between the previous posts in 2012 and 2017, I changed the system around, sold off one of the 817s and bought an 857, replaced the antennas with a homebrew H/V 8el 2m and 15el 70cm yagis on the az-el. Worked Europe through the birds and had fun.
We sold the house in Kingston in 2017 and moved up onto the Rideau Canal, which meant I had to tear down the farm and pack up everything.
New house rules. Antennas have to be stealth which means satellite work is out.
Last year after 3 years of working on the house and starting to see the end of renovations, I started pulling out the rigs. Sold the lot!
Then COVID hit and I decided I needed a radio.....Just one!
I've replaced them with an FT-920, FT-221R, a TenTec Century 21 Analogue, a Century 21 Digital, a Xiegu G90 and I kept the TH-F6. I also have an RSP1 and RSP2. Obsessed! Just a little!
The farm is now a longwire with 9:1 unun, 80m OCFD, a 4BTV, a 6BTV and a 6m/2m/70cm vertical. All hidden in the trees on the lot.
Built up a pretty good collection of Les Logan bugs and some straight keys too. Right now there are 8 bugs, 3 paddles and 6 keys and my CW is lousy but I'm signed up for CW Ops training next month, so hopefully I'll get better.
The CW that is, not the obsession with gadgets. That's incurable.
OK, time to see if this thing works!
